ABOUT
AMBIENT IMAGES
Ambient
Images originally formed as New York Stock Photo to provide one
stop shopping for all your New York City photo needs. Our philosophy
was simple and two fold. We wanted to offer a wide and diverse selection
of images of all of New York's well known landmarks, combined with coverage
of subjects that may be harder to find. Lots of Statue of Liberty and
skyline photos along with images of neighborhoods, museums, restaurants
etc... We opened our doors in the Spring of 1999 with our first CD Catalog,
and our Website was uploaded in December of 1999.
Not
content with just one coastal state, we set our eyes across the country
and decided that the same approach would work well for California. We
mailed our California Stock Photo CD in 2001 and our second website
opened soon after. In the Fall of 2001 we re-formed as Ambient Images.
As well as Stock Photography, we also offer Design, Retouching and Photo
Illustration services, and sell prints of many of our photographs. Go

Our
New York Stock Photo and California Stock Photo websites
will remain the same and separate. Whether it's a CD or a Website, we
believe that searching for images should be fast and simple. Our searchable
database eliminates the 'hit or miss' keywording that you find on other
sites, and gets you the pictures you want to see, quickly, and without
the guesswork.
New
York and California are ever changing landscapes, and we'll be looking
for fresh and exciting pictures to bring to you on a regular basis.
We will be adding new images and categories to create the most complete New York
and California photo libraries available online.
Rights
Protected vs. Royalty Free
The
images at Ambient Images are Rights Protected not Royalty Free. While
Royalty Free images may be suitable for some of your photo projects,
Rights Protected images offer these important advantages.
Uniqueness.
The images found in Ambient Images are unique, and much of the subject
matter cannot be found at other photo agencies, let alone Royalty Free
collections.
Exclusivity. You have the assurance that the images you license
from us will not appear in similar use situations, or be used by your
competitors.
Personalized
Service. Our knowledgeable sales reps are available to answer all
your questions and to aid you through the ordering process. They can
also help you find photos that may not be listed in our catalog, or
advise you on all our different delivery options and what picture format
might be best for you. We are also available for assignments. Our photographers
live and work in the geographic areas they specialize in. Their in-depth
knowledge and proximity make them particularly well suited for assignments
in these locations.

Photographer's
Submissions
 We
are always looking for new contributers, but do not send unsolicited
material. Please send a list of subjects you think would be of interest
to us, or contact us with any questions.
